Speaker Bios

Brian Proctor

Brian has spent most of his career (13+ years) as a ICS/SCADA cybersecurity engineer and cybersecurity team lead working for two progressive California Investor Owned Utilities (IOUs). He holds a variety of technical certifications, including the Global Industrial Control System Professional (GICSP), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC), and is certified in project management from University of California at Irvine. In 2013, Brian was presented with the Critical Infrastructure Private Sector award from Securing our eCity, a San Diego based cybersecurity non-profit organization. In 2016, Brian was a co-inventor of a R&D magazine top 100 award winner for one of the top inventions of the year relating to a GPS anti-spoofing mitigation technology.


Alex Waitkus

Alex Waitkus is a Cybersecurity Architect for Securicon, LLC and works with one of the largest utilities in the US. As a cybersecurity consultant, he focuses on delivering design solutions to help organizations enable strategic business initiatives through their security program, address threats to industrial systems and critical infrastructure, and improve the risk posture of the business by analyzing existing organizational, infrastructure, and application security challenges and usage; identifies opportunities for improvement; and develops practical roadmaps for improving security posture.

Alex holds the Certified Information Systems Security Professional and Information Systems Security Architecture Professional security industry certifications as well as other Industry standard security certifications. A proven project and team leader, Mr. Waitkus’ functional areas of expertise include information systems security, vulnerability analysis, information assurance (IA), business systems analysis, computer network exploitation, and project management and support.
