In our Post Modern Web Attacks talks we review and describe different web attacks and how they may impact your environments. This time we are deconstructing the SaltStack Attack that affected customers such as DigiCert. SaltStack is an Ansible or Puppet like Configuration Management tool and it has recently been found to have an unauthenticated Remote Code Execution vulnerability. We will explore this vulnerability along with many other topical items!

Speaker Bios

Moses Frost

Moses Frost (Hernandez) is a seasoned security professional with over 15 years in the IT industry. He has held positions as a network engineer, network architect, security architect, platform engineer, site reliability engineer, and consulting sales engineer. He has a background in complex network systems, systems administration, forensics, penetration testing, and development. He has worked with some of the largest companies in the nation as well as fast-growing, bootstrap startups.

Moses has developed information security regimens safeguarding some of the most sensitive personal data in the nation. He creates custom security software to find and mitigate unknown threats, and works on continually evolving his penetration testing skills.

Molly Stewart

Molly is currently a Senior Cloud Engineer for Blackspoke with a strong background in Linux administration and cyber security. She’s ever helpful to SANS students as a teaching assistant and is progressing towards becoming a certified SANS instructor. She loves cats and roller derby.
