Barb Filkins has done extensive work in system procurement, vendor selection and vendor negotiations in her career as a systems engineering and infrastructure design consultant. Based in Southern California, she sees security as a process that she calls "policy, process, platforms, pipes, AND people." Most recently she's been involved with HIPAA security issues in the health and human services industry with clients ranging from federal agencies (DoD and VA), municipalities and commercial businesses. Her interest in information security comes from its impact on all aspects of the system lifecycle as well as its relation to many of the issues faced by modern society that is dependant on automation — privacy, identity theft, exposure to fraud, and the legal aspects of enforcing information security. She holds the SANS GSEC (Gold) and GCIH (Silver, working towards Gold), and the GHSC.
Jeff Harrell is the senior director of product marketing at Norse, which offers proactive, intelligence-based security solutions that enable organizations to identify and defend against today’s advanced cyberthreats. Jeff has over 15 years of experience in the IT security industry managing product management and product marketing teams to build and market security solutions from end users to large enterprises. Jeff’s areas of expertise include cloud technology, threat intelligence, compliance, vulnerability management, configuration auditing and encryption. Before joining Norse, Jeff worked for security and technology companies including nCircle, Qualys, McAfee, PGP and eMusic.
