Tamie Fox has over 20 years of experience in Information Technology and
is the current Director of I.T. at Florida Keys Electric Cooperative
which serves over 32,000 members. Throughout her career, Tamie has
worked in computer support, server administration, network
administration, programming, and management. She applies this wealth of
insight into all aspects of I.T. work.
Since taking the helm in FKEC’s I.T. department, Tamie has increased the utilities investment in Information and Operational Technology and improved cybersecurity, technology reliability, and efficiency across all co-op departments. In addition to constantly researching, reviewing, and implementing the best intrusion protection and detection systems, Tamie has also led her team to focus on staff education and training. By initiating fun “phishing tournaments” and monthly contest, Tamie’s department has successfully made the serious topic of potential cyber breaches tangible for employees.
In addition to her hands on experience, Tamie is a graduate of Oregon Technical Institute Summa Cum Laude with her B.S. in Information Technology. She is also a member of Phi Theta Kappa, the National Honor Society, and also serves on the NRECA Cybersecurity Apprenticeship Workgroup.
Mrs. Fox found a real passion for cybersecurity after taking SANS’s courses on intrusion detection, virtualization security, and security essentials.
