Neil Bennett

Neil is currently CISO at the Home Office and has 20+ years’ experience of technology, security and people leadership with notable success in delivering organisational change. He is currently reshaping Home Office Cyber Security to ensure it is best placed to deliver against the recently published Government Cyber Security Strategy. Prior to joining the Home Office at the start of 2022, Neil has spent most of his career in Healthcare IT having started in the private sector delivering technology solutions into the NHS before moving into agencies of the Department of Health and Social Care that are responsible for delivering complex, national scale digital, technology and data services into the health and care system.

As CISO at NHS Digital, Neil led their security response to the pandemic, ensuring that its own products and services remained safe and secure, and supporting the broader health and care system to ensure it has remained resilient to cyber-attacks during a period of immense operational pressure on the NHS. Prior to becoming CISO Neil led NHS Digital’s Live Services directorate for several years with responsibility for the smooth running and operation of more than 200 infrastructure, data, clinical, and citizen facing services. He also had responsibility for their technical assurance directorate and for corporate business continuity.

Neil lives in north Leeds and outside of work he splits his time between his family – he is married with three children, Leo aged 10 and Marysia and Maja, twins aged 7, and keeping fit – he is a keen swimmer, cyclist, runner and practices yoga.
