The day prior to the summit, on Monday 4th March, SANS will also be hosting an exclusive FREE full-day session, ‘ICS Cybersecurity Foundations Workshop’, for summit attendees only. This new workshop will be run by Tim Conway and other renowned ICS/OT security leaders and space are very limited. There will be 50 seats available on a first-come, first-served basis to in-person summit registrants only.
What can you expect from the workshop?
This session serves the purpose of introducing people into the field of industrial control systems (ICS) / operational technology (OT) and the cybersecurity considerations unique to securing these environments. ICS/OT make up the critical part of critical infrastructure and deal with all of the networking and computing equipment responsible for making the physical process work in modern day industrial automation environments. These environments range from electric, water, and gas utilities and infrastructure to oil and gas, petrochemical, manufacturing, pharmaceutical, data centres and even airports. ICS/OT is essentially all the things that exist in IT + unique systems + physics. It's an exciting and rapidly growing field.
In the first section of material, students will learn key terminology and fundamentals of industrial environments such as PLCs, DCS, SCADA, EWS, and HMIs, key industrial network protocols, and how ICS/OT and the physical process work together. In the second section, students will learn the ICS/OT Five Critical Controls and how to apply them to efficiently and effectively enhance the industrial cybersecurity of any modern industrial automation environment. The workshop is designed as an entry level session suitable for all personnel of any background.
Pricing: Free for anyone attending the in-person ICS UK Summit only (first-come, first-served, max 50 spaces)
