SANS Paris September 2019: Cyber Security Training to Support France's Cyber Security Defenders

  • Paris
  • 22 August

Protecting the French nation, businesses and citizens from cyber-crime has, like so many other European countries, become a top priority for the French government, as highlighted in the government report “L’Etat de la Menace Liée au Numérique” (Digital Threat Status), which was published in July. The report points to the fact that once indiscriminate ransom attacks now seem to frequently target larger companies with the ability to pay very high ransoms, and that banking malware is increasingly successful on smartphones. It goes on to detail the activity being carried out across Government, including a programme of cyber security research and development.

Earlier this year, France’s defence secretary, Florence Parly pledged to arm the country, by using cyber as a tool to both defend and respond to attacks. And more recently there is talk of creating a French cyber hub or campus to bring together cyber security expertise and help stem the ‘brain drain’ of French cyber security talent.

To help France develop its cyber security defences, SANS Paris 2019 is hosting one of its world-renowned cyber security training events in Paris during the week of 16 – 21 September. Students looking to level up their skills will attend the six-day immersion training to achieve the standard of expertise needed to defend their organisations against security breaches and prevent future cyber attacks. With a choice of six training courses running during the week, to cover all areas of information security, together with bonus SANS @ Night’ Talks, there’s a wealth of resources available.

SANS Institute is the largest and most trusted source of information security training and certification in the world. Providing intensive immersion training, SANS courses are continuously updated so that individuals and corporations alike, can defend their systems and networks from one of today’s four most serious global concerns: cyber attack.

Axelle Saim, Director France & Luxembourg, SANS Institute, says: “Training with SANS offers the highest level of cyber security certification standards. A GIAC certification can be taken for more than 30 SANS training courses, providing the highest and most renowned level of cyber security knowledge and skills available to industry, government, and military clients across the world.”

There are six courses running in Paris during the week of 16 September, including the FOR500: Windows Forensic Analysis with Kevin Ripa. The FOR500 is designed for those wanting to learn the in-depth concepts of Windows digital forensics, to help solve their Windows data breach and intrusion cases.

Kevin Ripa SANS Instructor for the FOR500 Course explains: “If they want to get an in depth set of knowledge about Windows forensics, there is no other course out there to get you to this level, within a 6-day time period, where you’ll be ready and qualified to actually start doing the work.”

SEC566: Implementing and Auditing the Critical Security Controls - In-Depth – Russell Eubanks
