  • February 27, 2019

SANS Institute, the global leader in cyber security training, today announced SANS Northern VA Spring - Reston 2019 (#SANSReston) taking place May 19-24 in Virginia. Courses and evening talks will address today’s most pressing information security issues. Attorney and SANS course author and instructor Benjamin Wright (@benjaminwright) will address growing legal and political expectations for data privacy during his evening talk “The Data Privacy Imperative”.

According to Wright, “Data privacy is in the news every day. Organizations of every kind have been called on the carpet for failing to respect the privacy of their customers and constituents. The result has many calling on Congress to enact a comprehensive privacy legislation. Join me in Northern Virginia where I will discuss modern measures to improve data privacy compliance. This discussion will complement lessons I will teach in my five-day course LEG523: Law of Data Security and Investigations."

Wright’s LEG523: Law of Data Security and Investigations course covers the rapid development of law at the intersection of IT and security. The course is ever-evolving, offering new tips and insights to change the way security professionals think about law and technology.

SANS Northern Virginia - Reston 2019 feature courses for security professionals at every level. Those new to cyber security will benefit from SEC301: Introduction to Cyber Security and SEC401: Security Essentials Bootcamp Style. More seasoned professionals will benefit from courses like SEC460: Enterprise Threat and Vulnerability Assessment, SEC503: Intrusion Detection In-Depth, FOR610: Reverse-Engineering Malware: Malware Analysis Tools and Techniques, and MGT514: Security Strategic Planning, Policy, and Leadership.
