SANS Looks to Strengthen Singapore's Cyber Security Workforce with October Training Event

Hands-On Training Offers the Latest Techniques to Master Intrusion Detection, Incident Response, Advanced Forensics and Much More

SANS Institute, the global leader in cyber security training and certification, has announced that registration has opened for its largest ever SANS October Singapore 2018 event. Taking place October 15-27, this event will feature sixteen courses for security professionals at every level. The courses will cover topics such as cyber defence, intrusion detection, ethical hacking, penetration testing, threat hunting, digital forensics, incident handling, and security management.

"The increasing frequency and severity of cyber security attacks in Singapore has created an urgent need for information security professionals to strengthen their skills in areas like intrusion detection, incident response and malware analysis," said Suresh Mustapha, SANS Managing Director for the Asia Pacific region. "SANS October Singapore provides professionals on the front lines of cyber security the unique opportunity to train with some of the worlds top practitioners. Course content is continually updated so students can stay ahead of cyber adversaries. For those working in cyber security, this is one training event you should not miss."

SANS October Singapore 2018 features courses for those new to information security as well as highly-seasoned professionals. Included in the course lineup are five new courses. The new (and newly updated) courses include SEC460: Enterprise Threat and Vulnerability Assessment, SEC487: Open-Source Intelligence Gathering (OSINT) and Analysis, SEC530: Defensible Security Architecture, SEC599: Defeating Advanced Adversaries - Purple Team Tactics & Kill Chain Defenses, and DEV540: Secure DevOps and Cloud Application Security.

The event also features two cyber range NetWars tournaments which are free to SANS October Singapore students enrolled in any 5- or 6-day course. Available in week one (October 18-19), Cyber Defence NetWars is a defence challenge that will test a players ability to secure systems and detect compromises. Available in week two (October 25-26), Core NetWars will challenge participants to prove their penetration testing skills in a multi-level capture-the-flag mission.
