SANS Institute, the global leader in information security training, today announced the second session of its CISO Hot Topic Series which will serve as the keynote address at the SANS Security West 2016 Training Event in San Diego, April 29 - May 6. Industry CISOs will join John Pescatore, SANS' Director of Emerging Security Trends and Alan Paller, SANS' Founder and Research Director, for a panel discussion on how CISO's can communicate effectively with Boards of Directors and CEOs to improve cybersecurity.

Panel participants Gary Hayslip, CISO of the City of San Diego, Josh Davis, CISO of Qualcomm, and Jason Callahan, CISO of Illumina, will share first-hand experience about "What Works" and lessons learned when dealing with cyber threats. Panel participants will also share their plans for dealing with the major cybersecurity challenges in their respective industries in the coming few years.

"While most of the media coverage focuses on breaches and security failures, there are a lot of hardworking CISOs that are avoiding or minimizing business damage from advanced targeted attacks," said Pescatore. "This interactive panel discussion will help spread information about processes, technologies and security skills that are actually succeeding in the fight against cyber attacks."

The CISO Hot Topic Series panel discussion will also feature an interactive audience session followed by a short presentation on establishing and tracking effective and business-relevant security metrics. The closing talk will focus on techniques for communicating in a way that will effect change and gain support from upper management. Immediately following the keynote attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a networking reception.
