  • November 5, 2014

The SANS Institute today announced the speaker line-up for its second annual Healthcare Cyber Security Summit in San Francisco on December 3rd. Included among the speaker list are security experts from Aetna, Kaiser Permanente, Merck and Phoenix Children's Hospital.

The Healthcare Cyber Security Summit was created in partnership with the National Health Information Sharing & Analysis Center (NH-ISAC) to help healthcare organizations overcome today's complex cyber security issues through greater awareness and information sharing. The partnership combines SANS' world-class cyber security training and expertise with NH-ISAC's growing healthcare information sharing network.

"Healthcare cyber security professionals have a complex job. They must deal with increasingly aggressive threats, radical and constant changes in technology, and evolving HIPAA regulations," said John Pescatore, SANS Director of Emerging Security Trends. "The SANS Healthcare Cyber Security Summit was developed to help these professionals balance the security, compliance, and innovation required to thrive. Senior information security leaders will share their experiences about "What Works" as they detail how they were able to overcome these obstacles to increase both the effectiveness and the efficiency of their security programs."

Healthcare Cyber Security Summit speakers will discuss the latest security threats and techniques used by hackers. They will also detail how healthcare organizations can balance the security, compliance, and innovation required to thrive today. Speakers include:

  • Michael McNeil, Global Product Security & Services Officer, Philips Healthcare
  • Tim Tompkins, Director, Global Information Security Innovation, Aetna
  • Jim Routh, CISO, Aetna & Board Member, NH-ISAC
  • Jim Doggett, Chief Technology Risk Officer, Kaiser Permanente
