SANS Institute to Hold Security Leadership Summit in Boston

Top Security Experts Join Forces to Address Today's Most Challenging Cybersecurity Issues and Emerging Threats

  • Bethesda, MD
  • March 31, 2014

SANS Institute today announced its inaugural Security Leadership Summit to take place in Boston, MA April 30 - May 1. Aimed at CISOs, security operations managers and those working to become cybersecurity managers, this unique event will pair industry and government CISOs with SANS' top security experts for two days of informative, interactive and career-enhancing sessions.

"This event will follow the Critical Security Controls effort model in bringing together leading industry CISOs and SANS security experts to lead "What Works" focused sessions addressing the most pressing challenges security managers at all levels are facing" said John Pescatore, director of Emerging Trends, SANS Institute. "Attendees will learn about tools and techniques for threat sharing that actually lead to reduced data breaches, awareness/education programs that result in measurable reduction in successful phishing attacks, metrics and strategies that convince management to fund new security initiatives and much more. Attendees will go back to work with the leverage needed to shift the balance from compliance-driven security to business-driven security."

The summit brings together some of the industry's top cyber security experts as they share how to take back control, convince management to increase security budgets, new controls for emerging technologies, and lessons learned. Included among the impressive list of speakers are:

  • Jim Routh, CISO of Aetna
  • Larry Wilson, CISO of UMASS
  • Joel Younts, CISO of Advance Auto Parts
  • Alan Paller, founder and research director, SANS Institute
  • Tony Sager, director, SANS Institute
  • John Pescatore, director of Emerging Technologies, SANS Institute

The summit will be collocated with SANS security management and SANS' Critical Security Controls training courses taking place May 2 - 7.
