SANS Institute to offer new cutting-edge Advanced Web App Penetration Testing and Ethical Hacking Training and More at SANS Canberra 2013

  • Canberra, AU
  • 29 April, 2013

SANS, along with their Australian training partner, Shearwater Solutions, today announced it is returning to Australia's Capital city for SANS' largest information security training event in the APAC region, 1 - 13 July.

Kevin Johnson, penetration testing expert and author of SEC642: Advanced Web App Pen Testing and Ethical Hacking, states "Today's threats are more targeted and more complex. This course provides a deep understanding of how the various targets work, their usage of encryption and web application firewalling, and how to perform vulnerability discovery and exploitation against these items. Students will learn how to expand past the methodology and focus on the how, when they are presented with the challenges of web penetration testing."

The SEC642 class covers a large number of topics including dealing with encryption within the application, testing mobile applications, and attacking SharePoint. This course assumes that you have a solid understanding of web penetration techniques and methodologies. You should be familiar with the HTTP protocol, HTML, web applications, and a scripting language such as Python. Successful completion of the GWAPT certification or having attended the SEC542 class would also fulfill these prerequisites. The SEC542: Web App Penetration Testing and Ethical Hacking class can be taken at SANS Brisbane 2013, 13 - 18 May.

The Advanced Web App Pen Testing and Ethical Hacking course will be taught by SANS Certified Instructor Justin Searle at SANS Canberra 2013. There are four other hands-on IT security courses coming to Canberra taught by top security practitioners. Mobile Device Security and Ethical Hacking along with Virtualization and Private Cloud Security will be making their Australian debut. Security Essentials Bootcamp Style and Hacker Techniques, Exploits & Incident Handling are two of the most popular courses in the SANS library.
