SANS Institute Returns to Orlando for its Most Comprehensive Computer Security Training Event of 2013

  • Bethesda, MD
  • December 18, 2012

SANS today announced it is returning to the Orlando World Center Marriot campus for SANS 2013. Slated for March 8 - 15, SANS 2013 will provide students with world-class training in IT security, penetration testing, application developer security, computer forensics, security management, network audit, and legal security.

SANS 2013 features over 40 hands-on technical courses taught by the top security practitioners in the industry. "SANS is the fastest way to go from an information security beginner to an information security guru," said David Howard with Emerson. Jayme Jordan, with Raytheon, adds "Within the first five minutes I knew this would be a very different (and welcomed) experience than prior training with other vendors."

SANS 2013 is also the venue for the GIAC Security Expert (GSE) hands-on lab. The GSE is truly a one of a kind certification and is one of the only expert level certifications in the industry. To achieve GSE status, you must possess an in-depth technical proficiency in general security, incident handling, intrusion detection and analysis.

The GSE is a battery of tests consisting of a multiple-choice exam and a two-day hands-on lab, which is only offered twice a year. To be eligible for the GSE lab at SANS 2013, you must have your application approved and complete the multiple-choice test by February 8, 2013. To learn more about the GSE, please visit

You may also earn credit towards a master's degree in information security at SANS 2013. Over 20 courses at this event may be applied to the SANS Technology Institute's (STI) Master of Science in Information Security Engineering or Master of Science in Information Security Management. Learn more about STI at

SANS 2013 training will provide you with the tools necessary to protect your company's data. Learn from top information security experts including Dr. Eric Cole, Ed Skoudis, Rob Lee, Dr. Johannes Ullrich, Tanya Baccam, Frank Kim, Jason Fossen, and many more.

In conjunction with SANS 2013, SANS will host NetWars Tournament Play competition, an intense interactive, Internet based environment for computer attacks and defenses. NetWars will be held on March 13 and 14. For complete details regarding the SANS 2013 training event and to register, please visit:
