The National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education (NICE) Cybersecurity Workforce Framework provides a common taxonomy and lexicon for describing cybersecurity work.'the components of the NICE Framework include 7 categories, 33 specialty areas, 52 work roles, and a corresponding catalogue of tasks, knowledge, skills, and abilities.'the NICE Framework aligns the needs of employers with the skills of learners which are developed by education and training providers. 'Although it is deemed to be voluntary, the Federal Cybersecurity Workforce Assessment Act requires the federal government to use it and America's Cybersecurity Workforce Executive requires that federal contractors align their workforce to the NICE Framework.'the executive order also encourages voluntary use by academia, the private sector, and state and local governments.
