SANS to Host Security Leadership Summit in Dallas, Texas

Chief Privacy Officer at The Coca-Cola Company, Kathy Fithen, to Deliver the Keynote Address

  • Bethesda, MD, USA
  • August 8, 2016

SANS Institute, the global leader in information security training, today announced the speaker line-up for its third annual SANS Security Leadership Summit and Training event taking place in Dallas, Texas September 27 - October 4. Summit Co-Chair and Coca-Cola's Chief Privacy Office, Kathy Fithen will deliver the keynote address, Security to Privacy: How Did I Get Here? Fithen will join forces with CISOs and other security leaders to share first-hand experience and lessons learned along the way to help others develop an effective security and privacy program.

SANS CISO, Frank Kim, will join Fithen as Summit Co-Chair. According to Kim, "The seemingly constant news of data breaches and security incidents have led to an increased focus on both data protection and privacy. As a result, it is no longer enough for information security programs to have strong technical controls in place, they must also balance the requirements of worldwide privacy laws. Success in our industry requires security leaders to equalize a challenging combination of security, privacy, and legal expertise. The Dallas Security Leadership Summit offers a welcome exchange of crucial insights, experiences, and advice to help with this complex task." The SANS Security Leadership Summit features two days of in-depth talks. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with top experts and network with fellow CISOs and security leaders. The summit will be followed by six days of information security and management hands-on immersion style training courses. A sampling of Summit speakers includes:

  • Rich Seiersen, General Manager, Cyber Security & Privacy, GE Healthcare
  • Gary McAlum, CISO, USAA
  • Jim Routh, CSO, Aetna
  • Scott Roberts, Bad Guy Catcher, GitHub
  • Kim L. Jones CISM, CISSP, M.Sc., Director, Cybersecurity Education Consortium, Arizona State University
  • Alan Paller, Director of Research, SANS Institute
