Peter is a Senior Information Security Manager at Bank of Ireland, with over eight years of experience in cyber security and more than a decade in IT, primarily within the financial sector. Holding an MSc in Information Systems Strategy and certifications including CISSP®, GIAC GSLC, GSTRT, and as a member of the GIAC Advisory Board, Peter brings a strong blend of technical knowledge and strategic insight to how organizations manage data protection, insider risk, and cyber resilience.
He currently leads his organization’s Data Loss Prevention operations and oversees its data security maturity program—ensuring the organization’s critical information assets are protected while supporting secure business growth. As an active contributor to a European threat intelligence working group focused on data security, Peter offers peer-driven insight into practical defenses against emerging threats.
Alongside his core role, Peter is deeply invested in developing a strong internal security culture. He founded the bank’s Cyber Community of Practice with over 1,000 members and launched a Cyber Career Learning Pathway that has helped many colleagues explore and transition into roles within information security.
A recent speaker at the Information Security Forum in Dublin, Peter continues to explore data security trends, emerging technologies, and maturity models—particularly through the lens of readiness in the age of AI. He brings a grounded, business-aligned perspective on how organizations can build strong data security foundations today to enable safe, confident innovation.
