Patterson Cake

Patterson has extensive experience in offensive security and incident response, specializing in combining the two in the development of incident-response teams, programs, and processes. He is currently a Principal Consultant for Avertium, was a Senior Security Engineer for AWS Managed Services, and is founder of Haven Information Security, with recent and relevant experience in information-security across multiple verticals, from non-profit healthcare to cloud-service providers to financial-service providers.

Patterson loves learning and loves the constant challenges and riddles of information security. He is passionate about tangible outcomes and forward progress, which is why he so enjoys teaching for SANS.

Patterson has a Bachelor of Science in IT Network Management and many industry certifications, including GXPN, GPEN, GWAPT, GCFA, GNFA, CISSP, CEH and MCSE, as well as being LEAN Six Sigma Black-Belt certified.

He lives in beautiful East Tennessee with his wife, their four children and their myriad pets, pursuing his other passions: family, cars, coffee and craft beer!
