Bojan Zdrnja

Bojan’s career began in system administration and security consulting, where he worked on national infrastructure projects and enterprise security architecture. After earning his degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, he expanded his expertise internationally, including time at the University of Auckland, where he conducted forensic investigations and implemented security technologies at scale. Returning to Croatia, he helped build INFIGO IS into a leading security consultancy, guiding teams through major regional incidents and advancing capabilities in malware analysis, threat detection, and vulnerability assessment. These experiences directly inform the labs, where students apply real-world methodologies to identify, exploit, and emulate adversary techniques across modern environments.

He holds numerous industry certifications, including Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and multiple Global Information Assurance Certification (GIAC) credentials, together with the most respected GIAC Security Expert (GSE #346). Beyond the classroom, Bojan is a long-time Senior Handler with the SANS Internet Storm Center, contributing to global threat intelligence and publishing technical analyses of emerging attacks. He is also an author and contributor to multiple publications, including malware defense guides and security columns, where he shares insights drawn from active investigations. Bojan Zdrnja is also a faculty member of the SANS Technology Institute, which has been designated an NSA Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense and is a multi-year winner of the National Cyber League competition.

In the classroom, Bojan is known for his analytical, experience-driven teaching style, breaking down complex attack paths into clear, actionable steps. Students value his ability to connect theory to real incidents, leaving them better prepared to emulate adversaries, assess risk, and defend their organizations. Outside of teaching, he continues to contribute to the global security community through research, writing, and incident response, as information security is his passion. Besides this, he’s a great fan of good comedy movies–which are referenced quite often in the classroom as well!
