SEC536: Adversarial AI - Penetration Testing AI Systems

We check boxes. We run compliance scans. We hold meetings that feel like progress. But how much of what we call security actually reduces risk — and how much of it is just performance?
This session pulls back the curtain on the everyday rituals we mistake for security: the audits that change nothing, the policies nobody reads, the dashboards built to reassure rather than inform.
Through sharp real-world examples and a healthy dose of humor, you will learn to spot security theater in your own environment — and leave with practical ways to swap performance for actual protection.
Ideal for CISOs, security managers, GRC and audit teams, and practitioners tired of reporting on work that does not move real risk.

Digital forensics has a cost problem. As commercial forensic platforms grow more sophisticated, their licensing and infrastructure costs push them beyond the reach of many practitioners, laboratories, universities, and law enforcement agencies across Africa. Limited budgets should not mean limited forensic capability.
This session explores the role open-source and community-developed technologies can play in building sustainable forensic capability across the continent: where they complement or replace commercial platforms, what their real capabilities and limitations are, and how to handle the questions that matter most — validation, reliability, support, training, and evidential defensibility.
The larger argument is that Africa should not simply consume digital forensic technology developed elsewhere. African practitioners, researchers, students, and developers have an opportunity to become active participants in the global forensics community, building tools and techniques for the technologies, crimes, and investigative challenges found on this continent.
The future of African digital forensics may not depend on our ability to buy more tools. It may depend on our willingness to build, validate, share, and improve them together.
Ideal for digital forensic examiners, incident responders, law enforcement investigators, academics, and students working across Africa.
