The UK Cyber Security Council (UKCSC), in collaboration with the UK government, has introduced professional titles to standardize how cyber security skills and experience are recognized across the UK.
This initiative establishes a consistent, nationally recognized approach to defining cyber security capability, with professional titles such as Associate, Principal, and Chartered reflecting different levels of experience and responsibility.
For individuals, UKCSC professional registration demonstrates recognized competence and supports career progression. For employers, it provides a trusted benchmark to guide hiring, development, and talent strategy.

GIAC certifications validate real-world, hands-on cyber security skills across critical domains, supporting the development of capabilities aligned with UKCSC professional titles.
GIAC is among the first certification bodies aligned to competencies supporting the UKCSC’s Associate Cyber Security Professional (ACSP), an entry-level designation for individuals beginning their careers. Achieving ACSP enables individuals to join the UK Cyber Security Professional Register and use a recognized post-nominal, signaling validated competence and a commitment to ongoing professional development.
By aligning training and certification pathways to UKCSC competencies, organizations can develop talent that meets recognized professional standards and supports structured career progression.
