Building the Cyber Workforce

The Southeastern Cyber Workforce Alliance (SECWA) is a pioneering program dedicated to expanding the skilled cybersecurity workforce of the southeastern United States. Aligning with the NICE Strategic Plan and the National Cyber Strategy, SECWA aims to identify and engage untapped talent across various under-resourced communities in the cybersecurity field. This U.S. Cyber Academy program is open to applicants who are either U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents.

Kickstart Your Cybersecurity Career

Cyber Foundations Training 

Build real-world cybersecurity fundamentals through SEC275: Foundations – Computers, Technology & Security, including a GIAC certification exam attempt

This training is designed for individuals with little to no prior cybersecurity experience and focuses on the core technical skills employers expect in entry-level roles. Participants gain hands-on exposure to essential concepts across systems, networking, and security operations, creating a practical on-ramp into the cybersecurity workforce. 

Successful participants leave with validated foundational knowledge and a clearer path toward entry-level cybersecurity or IT roles.

Participants will also receive access to a short AI course and hands-on workshop.

Eligibility

Program seats are open to all career changers and job seekers not currently working in cybersecurity. We welcome applications from individuals of all backgrounds, including those from under-resourced communities and untapped talent pools.

Eligible applicants must reside in one of the following states or districts: Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Florida, Louisiana, Arkansas, Tennessee, or the District of Columbia.

This U.S. Cyber Academy program is open to applicants who are either U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents.

Steps to Apply

  2. Take the Aptitude Test: Details and instructions will be provided after submission of the application.
  3. Submit Supporting Documentation: After completing the assessment, applicants will need to provide required supporting documentation. Specific details will be shared during the application process.
  4. Candidate Review: Applications and documentation will be evaluated, and selected candidates will be notified.
