In this survey, a partnership between SANS and Bishop Fox, we did examined enterprise security defenses through the eyes of an adversary. By polling hundreds of ethical hackers, we wanted to gain a deeper understanding of what makes adversaries successful. Some of our key takeaways include:

  • What are hackers’ favorite vectors and how often do they update their tactics?
  • What are the top risks and vulnerabilities hackers encounter?
  • What works and what doesn’t?
  • How easily and quickly can hackers break in and gain access to high-value targets?
  • How do hackers view “other” technologies such as cloud or IOT?
