About Saltanat Mashirova

Saltanat currently serves as an OT Cybersecurity Lead with CPX in the UAE, where she is contributing to the nation’s critical infrastructure defense journey in partnership with the UAE Cybersecurity Council. She is helping to advance next-generation OT SOC capabilities, driving collective defense strategies, and strengthening resilience across vital national sectors.

She previously held positions with Honeywell Connected Enterprise and the Honeywell OT Center of Excellence, where she led OT cybersecurity product development, conducted cyber-physical risk assessments, and supported global projects across oil and gas, utilities, and manufacturing. With more than a decade of experience in ICS/SCADA security, commissioning, brownfield/greenfield integration, and ISA/IEC 62443 compliance, she combines technical depth with practical field experience.

Getting into industrial cybersecurity was a natural progression from her upbringing in an oil city on the Caspian Sea, where her father worked as a driller. From an early age, names like Chevron, Shell, and ExxonMobil were household terms, planting the seed for her career path. This boots-on-the-ground experience shapes her practical approach to architecture and governance, ensuring recommendations are field-ready and tied to process safety.

Saltanat is a member of the OT Cybersecurity Expert Panel for the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore, where she co-authored the Singapore OT Cybersecurity Masterplan 2024. She has also supported the SANS community as a Teaching Assistant for ICS 410 and co-authored the SANS OT Disaster Recovery Quick Start Guide. A frequent global speaker at S4, SANS ICS Summit, OTCEP Singapore, API Houston, GITEX Dubai, and Industrial Security Conference Denmark, she shares insights on cyber-physical resilience, disaster recovery, and the future of OT defense.

Saltanat has been recognized internationally with awards including Top International 40 under 40 in Cybersecurity (2024), Cybersecurity Diversity and Inclusion Advocate (2024), Cybersecurity Woman of the World (2023), Cybersecurity Woman of the Year (2023), and Women to Watch by SC Media (2022).
