John McShane

John McShane is Principal Product Manager for AI and Data Science at Cobalt, where he leads new AI initiatives for Cobalt's pentesting offering. With more than a decade of experience across penetration testing, IoT engineering, and advanced fuzzing, John has helped bring multiple cutting-edge security products to market. He holds five patents in cybersecurity testing technologies, including novel applications of AI for fuzzing and zero-day discovery. Prior to joining Cobalt, John drove product strategy for the Defensics fuzz testing platform at Black Duck, and led AI.

John earned his bachelor’s degree in Automotive Technology from Southern Illinois University and is completing his master’s thesis in Cybersecurity at Eastern Michigan University. In addition to his civilian career, he serves as a First Sergeant in the U.S. Army Reserve.
