During his 20+ years in the military and civilian sectors, John has managed cyber threat intelligence, investigative response, cyber counterintelligence, and counterintelligence teams.

John was the primary author of the Verizon Cyber Espionage Report, Insider Threat Report, Incident Preparedness and Response Report. John served in the U.S. Army and U.S. Marine Corps (Reserves). John has served as a speaker / panelist for various events, to include RSA Conference, National Insider Threat Center Symposium, NCFTA Cyber Crime Forum, SANS Cyber Threat Intelligence Summit, SecureWorld Expo, International Association of Financial Crimes, Infosecurity Magazine, Recorded Future Predict, and BSides Pittsburgh.
