Itay Harel

Itay is a Threat Detection Research team lead at Wiz, managing research of new threat actors and techniques, while building the content of Wiz's real-time cloud detection engine. Before that, he led the Threat Research team at Gem Security, and was a member of Gem’s core team. Itay specializes in cloud threat research, with a primary focus on identity research in multi-cloud environments, leveraging his expertise to drive the development of Wiz's cloud-native threat detection, investigation, and response platform. Itay is a Talpiot Alumnus and a Masters graduate in Computer Science from Tel-Aviv University. Before joining Wiz, Itay excelled as a Research and Development group leader in 8200, where he spearheaded multiple teams in the creation of innovative technologies within the cyber division. Prior to this, he led the Cyber Security Strategy practice in the IDF's 'Center of Encryption and Information Security' and gained valuable experience as a vulnerability researcher at 8200.
