Charu Bansal

With more than a decade of leadership across the information security landscape, Charu Bansal brings both strategic and operational expertise to her role as a SANS Instructor. She has led security programs across financial services, media and entertainment, and technology startups—bridging the worlds of risk management and executive communication to help organizations design resilient, business-aligned security programs.

With international experience in Asia, North America and Europe, Charu is recognized for her global mindset, strategic foresight and ability to drive organizational transformation. She has successfully implemented enterprise-wide security programs, strengthened organizational resilience against emerging cyberthreats, and fostered a culture of security awareness.

Charu has deep expertise in information security frameworks such as NIST, as well as in risk management, data protection, and breach response. Her prior experience in finance operations and audit provides her with valuable insight into business structures, process optimization, and budget management—enabling her to align security goals with organizational priorities and communicate their value to executive audiences.

Her credentials include the GIAC Strategic Planning, Policy, and Leadership (GSTRT) and GIAC Security Leadership (GSLC) certifications, along with membership on the GIAC Advisory Board. A Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, Charu is known for her analytical approach and her ability to lead teams through complex, high-pressure security initiatives.

Beyond her technical expertise, Charu is deeply committed to advancing neurodiversity and equity in technology. She serves on several leadership committees for advancing women in technology and frequently speaks on creating inclusive, empowering environments for diverse talent across the cybersecurity community.
