Benjamin’s career spans over a decade in both public and private sector cybersecurity leadership. He previously served in the Ministry of Defence of Singapore, where he led critical functions including the Cyber Security Operations Center (SOC) and the Cyber Audit and Incident Response Unit. In these roles, he built and scaled SOC capabilities, led investigations into advanced threat actors, and conducted threat hunting and digital forensics across complex enterprise and operational environments. These experiences directly inform the course labs, where students apply the same investigative techniques, detection strategies, and response methodologies used in real-world incidents.
He holds numerous industry certifications, including the GIAC Security Expert (GSE #408), one of the most advanced technical certifications in cybersecurity. His additional credentials span incident handling, digital forensics, penetration testing, intrusion analysis, and risk management. Beyond certifications, Benjamin has led cybersecurity consultancy initiatives, developed training programs, and contributed to building cybersecurity capabilities across organizations.
In the classroom, Benjamin is known for his practical, operations-driven teaching style. He emphasizes hands-on learning and decision-making under pressure, helping students move beyond theory to build confidence in real incident scenarios.
