About Alexandre Becholey

Alexandre Becholey is a SANS Certified Instructor Candidate and course author specializing in advanced offensive security, exploit development, and low-level systems research. He teaches SEC660: Advanced Penetration Testing, Exploit Writing, and Ethical Hacking, and co-authored SEC760: Advanced Exploit Development for Penetration Testers, where his work directly reflects his deep expertise in Linux heap exploitation, fuzzing, and Windows kernel debugging. Alongside his SANS role, he operates as an independent security researcher, focusing on complex vulnerability discovery across mobile baseband firmware, Android kernels, and Windows internals.

Alexandre’s career spans more than a decade of hands-on security engineering and research across both enterprise and specialized security firms. He previously served as an Offensive Security Researcher at Sophos and held multiple roles at Kudelski Security, progressing from Cyber Security Engineer to Security Expert. Earlier in his career, he worked within financial services at Pictet & Cie, building foundational experience in enterprise security. These roles shaped the practical, research-driven approach embedded in his course labs.

Alexandre holds the GIAC Exploit Researcher and Advanced Penetration Tester (GXPN) and GIAC Penetration Tester (GPEN) certifications. He contributes to SEC760 with advanced methodologies in Linux heap exploitation, fuzzing, and Windows kernel research. He actively shares knowledge through his technical blog. Alexandre Becholey is also a faculty member of the SANS Technology Institute, which has been designated an NSA Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense and is a multi-year winner of the National Cyber League competition.

In the classroom, Alexandre is known for his precise, technical teaching style and his ability to guide students through complex concepts while maintaining practical relevance. His labs emphasize hands-on problem solving and real-world application. Outside of teaching, he continues to explore cutting-edge vulnerabilities and contributes to the security community through ongoing research and knowledge sharing.
