WORKSHOP | NEW TO ICS/OT | Navigating OT Connectivity and Security in the Cloud Era

In this workshop, Gordon Moreau and Jeff Shearer will provide an introductory understanding of OT security in the context of integration with cloud computing. We will explore key aspects of this topic such as the popularity of the cloud and the business reasons to explore the technology, the migration of business applications to the cloud, and the ways in which cloud security in the context of OT may be different from traditional cloud security approaches. Additionally, we will cover some ways in which OT environments connect to the cloud, the necessity for coordination between IT cloud security professionals and OT security professionals, and the process of transforming data into actionable insight once it arrives in the cloud. Through illustrations and conceptual network diagrams, we will examine some practical network flows, the role of an IDMZ in OT cloud integration, and provide participants with some practical considerations when evaluating connectivity between the OT and cloud.
