Leonardo Núñez

Born and raised in the Dominican Republic, he has always been the nerdy kid, curious about how things work. Ever since his family got a PC (a Compaq Presario 5000), he wandered on the internet, discovering multiple things about it, installing the occasional malware while trying to download the latest Toy Story movie, then trying to remove the malware before anyone else would notice it. As of 2024, he's been working as an offensive security consultant with a focus on network penetration testing and web application penetration testing while getting certified in CompTIA Pentest+ and OffSec Certified Professional (OSCP), demonstrating his desire to hone his skillset.

Profile

Born and raised in the Dominican Republic, he has always been the nerdy kid, curious about how things work. Ever since his family got a PC (a Compaq Presario 5000), he wandered on the internet, discovering multiple things about it, installing the occasional malware while trying to download the latest Toy Story movie, then trying to remove the malware before anyone else would notice it.

Fast-forward to 2016, finishing high school and not knowing what to study at university. He took a career personality and aptitude test. Telling him that he could do anything made it harder to decide, but after guidance from friends and family, he decided to go for telecommunications engineering because it would let him tinker with programming, electronics, and networking. Later on, in February 2021, he was still on the path of becoming a telecommunications engineer but discovered a recommended YouTube video of John Hammond and fell in love with the cybersecurity field. After binge-watching multiple of John's videos, he decided to make the change and dive into offensive security.

As of 2024, he's been working as an offensive security consultant with a focus on network penetration testing and web application penetration testing while getting certified in CompTIA Pentest+ and OffSec Certified Professional (OSCP), demonstrating his desire to hone his skillset. In his free time, he loves to provide help to the cybersecurity communities on multiple Discord servers, as well as volunteer for the non-profit Raíces Cyber Org.
