Red and Purple Team: Improve the defender's ability to stop the attackers
Defenders must be constantly vigilant in their efforts to protect their organization's environment. Through practice, the defenders can be sharpened by red and purple team exercises. This presentation will explore some case studies where exercise improved the organisation's security posture.
Wednesday 24th August – Steve Anson
A Network Defender's Guide to Credential Attacks
Since the traditional network perimeter has disappeared, network defense increasingly relies upon authenticated access to resources as a primary security control. Unfortunately, attackers have become extremely proficient at stealing and reusing credentials of all types, resulting in stealthy attacks that blend in with normal network activity. This talk will explain how these attacks are possible on premise, in the cloud, and across the Internet with a goal of understanding how to prevent and detect them in your environment.
Thursday 25th August – Greg Scheidel
Using PVLANs to Block and Detect Pivoting
Attackers most often enter our environments through client-side compromise, followed by laterally pivoting to other hosts. Blocking that pivot limits the attacker's visibility and access, improves our visibility as defenders, and (in case you need extra incentive to attend this talk!) strongly supports defensible and zero trust network architectures.
