Profile
Stephanie Preston is a cybersecurity awareness, communications, and phishing specialist with Johnson Controls. The small (but mighty!) team she works on is responsible for delivering educational, informational, and inspirational content to develop strong cyber behavior for the more than 100,000 employees and contingent workers in Johnson Controls global workforce. As a relative newcomer to the cybersecurity awareness field, Stephanie is passionate about providing simple, actionable advice to her audience, and helping demystify the risks that exist in both the corporate and home environments.
Leveraging her background in employee communications, Stephanie engages both technical and non-technical resources to develop programs that incorporate gamification, real-world examples, and a drive for continuously improving user behavior. Stephanie is a strong advocate for the inclusion of non-technical team members in IT and information security roles, as they can represent the interests of the “common user” and bring a perspective that drives improved human behavior across organizations of all sizes.
Based in Denver, CO, Stephanie also devotes time to supporting neurodiverse youth, food insecurity, and underserved homeless populations in her community. She holds certifications as a SANS Security Awareness Professional (SSAP) and Prosci Change Management Practitioner.
