Sam Maesschalck

Sam is a Security Training Engineer at RHEA Group, working for the European Space Agency's cyber security centre of excellence (SCCoE). In this role, he is responsible for developing and delivering online and in-person training related to cyber security and the space sector for ESA.

Aside from this, he is also a researcher in critical infrastructure security, focusing on OT and space systems. Previously, he obtained his PhD in Computer Science at Lancaster University, where he focused on integrating honeypots into ICS security practices. This stemmed from a need to secure OT systems without interfering with the systems themselves, as this could affect the availability and reliability of the operations. He has published several papers on the topic in various journals and conferences.
