Detective Jeff Rich is a decorated investigator with over 24 years of experience in the field of child abuse and violent crimes investigations. As a member of the Plano, Texas Police Department's Special Victims Unit, he is tasked with investigating technology-based crimes against persons, internet crimes against children and online child exploitation cases to include child abuse, child endangerment, and human trafficking violations.
As a State and Federal Officer assigned to the FBI's Crimes Against Children and Human Trafficking Task Force, Detective Rich plays a critical role in keeping children safe from predators in the digital age. Detective Rich has extensive knowledge and expertise in the field of child protection as well as being a digital computer forensic examiner certified by the International Association of Computer Investigative Specialists.
Detective Rich regularly trains both nationally and internationally on these subjects, sharing his experience with other law enforcement agencies. Detective Rich co-authored the "First Responders to Child Abuse Investigations" curriculum for the State of Texas, which serves as a valuable resource for law enforcement officials across the state and his research on law enforcement's role in child abuse cases and was published in Chadwick's Child Maltreatment, Abuse, and Neglect publications.
For his work in online child exploitation investigations, Detective Rich has been the recipient of numerous awards, including the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement's Professional Honors award, the U.S. Department of Justice Eagle Award, the United States Attorney Generals Special Commendation Award, and the U.S. Department of Justice William French Smith award.
