Overview

In 2015, SANS piloted an innovative approach to solving the cybersecurity talent shortage problem. The SANS VetSuccess Immersion Academy provides transitioning veterans with technical hands-on training and the associated GIAC certifications as well as connections to employers to help them enter the cyber workforce. The program is 100% scholarship-based. Join us to learn about our success to date and exciting plans to expand in 2016!

Speaker Bios

Arlin Halstead

Arlin Halstead, Vice President of Human Resources at Solutionary, Inc. He joined Solutionary in 2009 with over 20 years experience in Human Resource Management and consulting. Prior to joining Solutionary he led HR organizations within the finance, insurance and retail industries and started an HR Consulting company focused on helping start-up companies develop HR programs and practices.


Jim Michaud

Jim Michaud is the Director of CyberTalent Solutions for the SANS Institute, a leading provider of Cyber Security training and development. He also teaches HR at the highly regarded School of Human Resources and Labor Relations at Michigan State University. He is a frequent guest speaker on topics of high interest to the global HR community.

Prior to SANS, Jim was the EVP, Chief Human Resources Officer at Cliffs Natural Resources, a global mining company. He was previously the Vice President of Human Resources at Arcelor Mittal, the world's largest steel producer where he was responsible for all aspects of human resources and labor relations of North and South America. Mr. Michaud began his career at Alcoa, where he served in many capacities across every aspect of human resources and labor relations and ultimately was the Global Director of Human Resources.

He is a Board member of the Detroit Manufacturing Renaissance Council, the Global Employment Institute, and the Michigan State University School of Human Resources Advisory Board.
