Solving Insider Threats in Law Enforcement

Just like any other institution with valuable information and influence, law enforcement agencies from the largest and most well-known to the smallest local agencies are all potential targets. While most enterprises are more concerned with external threats, the internal data thief, the privileged user, is far more serious problem for law enforcement.

In this webcast, SANS fellow and instructor, Dr. Eric Cole, and Michael Crouse, director insider threat strategies for Raytheon Cyber Products will present their analysis of the problem that law enforcement institutions face and provide suggestions for preventing, detecting and protecting against these threats.

The insider threat can come from both deliberate and accidental actions of insiders. The extent of the harm that can be caused ranges considerably and impacts those in law enforcement as well as others in local and global communities. Solving the problem can involve developing a home grown approach or utilizing available and proven solution. In the webcast, the pros and cons of different approaches will be addressed.
