Speaker Bios

John Pescatore

John Pescatore joined SANS as director of emerging security trends in January 2013. He has 35 years experience in computer, network and information security. Prior to joining the SANS Institute, Mr. Pescatore was Gartner's lead security analyst for 13 years, working with global 5000 corporations and major technology and service providers. Before joining Gartner, Mr. Pescatore was Senior Consultant for Entrust Technologies and Trusted Information Systems, where he started, grew and managed security consulting groups focusing on firewalls, network security, encryption and Public Key Infrastructures. Prior to that, Mr. Pescatore spent 11 years with GTE developing secure computing and telecommunications systems. Mr. Pescatore began his career at the National Security Agency, where he designed secure voice systems, and the United States Secret Service, where he developed secure communications and surveillance systems. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Connecticut and is a NSA Certified Cryptologic Engineer. He is also an Extra class amateur radio operator, callsign K3TN.

David Wells

David Wells is VP of Product Management for SSL Visibility products at Blue Coat Systems. David joined Blue Coat as part of Blue Coat's acquisition of the SSL Visibility Appliance product family from Netronome Systems, where he was a co-founder. He has over 25 years experience in networking, telecommunications and security related businesses ranging from startups to multi-nationals and has contributed to various standards bodies and is the holder of a number of technology patents. David has a BSc from Stirling University and a PhD from Cranfield Institute of Technology in the UK.

Greg Mayfield

Greg Mayfield is a Director of Product Marketing at Tenable, Inc. leading the marketing efforts for the company's Platform, its Vulnerable Management (VM) application and its Cloud Security solutions. A creative marketer and evangelist, his responsibilities include driving the promotion, awareness and sale of Tenable’s market-leading security solutions, enabling the global sales field and channels to accelerate sales, and driving thought leadership in support of the network security industry. With over 25 years of experience in the networking industry, Greg has held various strategic marketing, product marketing and product line management roles in several high-technology companies, with an emphasis on network security, network and systems management, cloud and data center solutions.
