Overview

The Center for Internet Security (CIS) Critical Security Controls, more popularly known as the Top 20 Critical Controls is a comprehensive blueprint that can help effectively secure an organization. The latest version of the controls is 6.1. Logging is its own control, but it applies to many of the other controls. This presentation will briefly review control 6, "Maintenance, Monitoring, and Analysis of Audit Logs" and control 12 "Boundary Defense". The audience will learn how control 6 supports, influences, and improves the effectiveness of control 12.

Steve Jaworski

Steve Jaworski is currently a Senior Analyst with SecureState, which is a global management consulting firm focusing on information security. He is an information security professional with more than 19 years experience in enterprise IT and 7 of those years focusing on Information Security. Some of his security interests are network flow analysis, log analysis, and network security. Steve has a Bachelor of Science in Information Systems from Baldwin-Wallace University. When not sniffing packets, Steve presents on various security topics in the Northeast Ohio area. Steve maintains these GIAC certifications. GSE, GPEN, GCCC, GCPM, GSEC, GPPA, GCFA, GCIH and GCIA.
