Firewalls in the Modern Enterprise: A New SANS Survey

  • Wednesday, 02 Sep 2020 1:00PM EDT (02 Sep 2020 17:00 UTC)
  • Speakers: Matt Bromiley, Ganesh Balamitran

From cloud computing to the growing use of containers and virtualized systems, the modern IT enterprise offers constant security challenges. This evolution in enterprise infrastructure has changed the way security professionals think about their security appliances, often finding solace in traditional devices like the firewall or proxy. SANS recently surveyed practitioners about their use and perceptions of firewalls within modern enterprises. This webcast will explore survey results, and provide attendees with insight into how firewalls can help:

  • Defend hybrid environments with both on-prem and cloud-based technologies,
  • Protect the modern application infrastructure, such as containers, microservices, and virtualized systems, and
  • Reinforce policies that help secure and guard valuable and sensitive data, especially with the growing complexities of privacy regulations and the need to maintain interoperability.

The webcast will also examine where practitioners see their environments moving in the next 12 months, and what critical investments are necessary for effective security.

Register today to be among the first to receive the associated whitepaper written by SANS digital forensics and incident response (DFIR) instructor Matt Bromiley.

Survey | Share your perception of the use of firewalls inside the modern enterprise and how your organization is using firewalls! Survey closes June 24th. Access survey here.
