Overview

The SANS CyberTalent VetSuccess Academy provides U.S. military veterans with advanced technical training, industry-recognized certifications, and connections to high-paying jobs and rewarding careers in cybersecurity. The Academy is 100% scholarship-based, and includes SANS training courses taught by expert faculty as well as the associated GIAC certifications. Speaker Bios

Sonny Sandelius

SANS CyberTalent Division

Sonny has held several roles under the SANS CyberTalent division and currently helps lead operations for the academy programs including admission, registration, curricula design and curriculum delivery as well as managing the SANS Cyber Aces Online program and the SANS Cyber Talent mentor programs. He currently lives in Washington D.C. / Maryland with his family and has worked with the SANS CyberTalent programs since 2009 after his move to the U.S. from Sweden. In Sweden, he spent the first part of his career directing, educating and advocating for people with autism and other disabilities, in a variety of roles. He also served at PK Hypotek, a Swedish Bank, in the corporate loans division and for UK Trade & Investment helping UK companies bid successfully on World Bank (WB) and Intern American Development Bank (IADB) projects.


Brian D. Ray

Brian is a graduate of the SANS VetSuccess Immersion Academy and currently working as a systems administrator for Aleut Management Services. In this roll he performs general administration duties, network engineering, system hardening, patching, vulnerability scanning and troubleshooting. Brian's journey to cybersecurity started with a passion for computers and learning about them when he wasn't on duty in the United States Air Force. He loves the challenge of cybersecurity and the opportunity to learn something new every day.
