Yet many healthcare organizations continue to struggle with in-house budgets, expertise, and resources to ensure they're properly safeguarding patient records and meeting compliance requirements.

Speaker Bios

Barbara Filkins

Barb Filkins, a senior SANS analyst who holds the CISSP and SANS GSEC (Gold) and GCH (Gold) certifications, has done extensive work in system procurement, vendor selection and vendor negotiations as a systems engineering and infrastructure design consultant. Most recently she's been involved with HIPAA security issues in the health and human services industry with clients ranging from federal agencies (DoD and VA), municipalities and commercial businesses, focusing on issues related to automation - privacy, identity theft and exposure to fraud, as well as the legal aspects of enforcing information security. Barbara sees security as an interaction of policy, process, platforms, pipes AND people.

John McNeice

John McNeice is the Product Manager for BAE Systems' Managed Security Services (MSS) business unit. He is responsible for working with BAE engineering, operations, and sales teams to deliver MSS solutions that help customer safeguard sensitive information and maintain regulatory compliance. He joined BAE after serving as the MSS Product Marketing Manager for SilverSky (BAE acquired SilverSky in 2014). Prior to SilverSky, John worked for several start-up companies in various Product Management, Product Marketing, and Research Analyst roles. He holds a BA in Economics from Williams College, and an MBA from Boston College.

Charlie Mallio

Charlie has worked in healthcare for over 20 years. As Senior Director, Business Development Healthcare at Fortinet, he is responsible for managing the overall partnering and go-to-market strategy with key healthcare VARs, ISVs, and OEMs; he also has responsibility for the Fortinet Healthcare Partner Program. Prior to joining Fortinet, Charlie was a strategic alliances manager at NetApp Healthcare. He's also held roles at the healthcare data management company BridgeHead Software, the healthcare information systems vendor Medical Information Technology, Inc. (MEDITECH), and the American Red Cross Blood Services. Charlie holds a BA in History from Framingham State University in Massachusetts.
