Threats continue to evolve and enterprise security defenses must do so as well. Advanced targeted attacks such as APTs are in the news every day, evading existing defenses to cause serious business damage. By definition, every targeted attack is customized and unique - each one has its own 'personality '. But they all follow a very similar pattern of network behavior that involves an initial infection vector, remote command and control communications, lateral propagation across the enterprise network, and finally, the staging and ex-filtration of sensitive or valuable information. These attacks take paths through the network, and they leave network trails. To protect customer and critical business data, enterprise must upgrade in the short term and look to new architectures and approaches to network security in the long run.

Join John Pescatore Director of Emerging Security Trends at SANS and Kurt Bertone Chief Security Strategies at General Dynamics Fidelis Cybersecurity Solutions in a discussion about utilizing a network-based approach to advanced threat defense to follow the trails and block the paths.\
