Security and Accountability in the Cloud, the SANS 2016 Cloud Security Survey: Part 1 - Breach Landscape and the Top Threats and Challenges

  • Tuesday, 11 Oct 2016 1:00PM EDT (11 Oct 2016 17:00 UTC)
  • Speakers: Dave Shackleford, Sami Laine, Mark Campbell

Organizations have become more aggressive in moving complex workloads to the cloud, but it's still not clear whether their InfoSec staffs have the tools they need to monitor and secure those workloads. This two-part webcast explores how both the need for cloud security and its implementation has changed in the past year.

In the 2015 survey, 40% of respondents stored or processed sensitive data in the cloud, and the same number were most concerned about unauthorized access to that data from other cloud tenants. Yet last year's results indicated only 9% experienced a breach, although 25% had no way to know for sure.

In this webcast, attendees will learn about the survey results, with special emphasis increases in the number of data breaches and the top threats and challenges associated with cloud environments. Attend this webcast to learn about the following:

  • Data breaches involving cloud applications
  • Applications and assets that are most commonly targeted
  • Top threats to cloud security
  • Issues and challenges in maintaining cloud security

Part 2 of this webcast, held on Wednesday, October 12 at 1:00 p.m. Eastern, will focus on changes in cloud security from 2015 to 2016, new controls for cloud security and how the security industry has responded to issues such as those raised in last year's survey.
