One of my passions is extending security awareness beyond just the work environment and making sure that parents are also armed with the skills and knowledge they need to protect their children online.  SANS has done tremendous work in supporting this area, including a new series of SANS @Night talks called Securing The Kids.  This talk provides an overview of the most common risks facing kids online today, and what we as parents can do about it.  The Internet is a tremendous tool, we want our kids to leverage this amazing technology.  However just like in the real world we want them to grow up safe.  If you will be attending any major SANS conferences this year and have kids, check to see if the "Securing The Kids" talk will be given.  In addition, you can download all the awareness materials online.  I just added the updated handout, a single reference page covering key points to protecting your children's online activities.  Come and please join us for one of these talks.  Better yet, email me any suggestions or experiences you can share, we would love to hear from you!
