Singapore – SANS Institute, the global leader in cyber security training and certifications, today announced that Peter Jackson has been named the recipient of the SANS Industrial Control System (ICS) Cybersecurity Difference Maker Award – APAC Region.

Peter leads the SGS ECL Cyber team of industrial cyber specialists in supporting the industrial sector in New Zealand. In conjunction with SANS ICS and ECL Cyber, Peter established the New Zealand ICS Cyber Technical Network as a community of OT Security professionals, providing the grass-roots information sharing forum for practitioners working in this sector. Peter is a shining example of how one person can make a big impact by sharing their knowledge and experience, and pursuing every opportunity to help others. The level of personal drive to pursue solutions and help the industry grow, solve problems, ensure practitioners working within critical infrastructure sectors are getting all the help they need is exactly what this community needs, and it’s amazing to see Peter leading those efforts everywhere he can.” – Tim Conway, Technical Director – ICS and SCADA Programs at SANS Institute.

The NZ ICS Cyber TN has been a great opportunity for individuals working across industries, regardless of whether they identify as IT, OT or ICS. These engineering and security professionals, who have responsibilities for defending their industrial OT networks, can collaborate and support each other as they learn, grow and mature in this niche area. It’s been great to have the support of SANS ICS and SGS ECL in this community initiative.” – Peter Jackson, Engineering Manager – Cyber at SGS ECL (NZ).
