Omaha's Solutionary to Refuel Region's Cyber Talent Pipeline

Omaha, Ne. – The quest for critically needed cyber talent in the region has prompted Solutionary, an Omaha-based managed security services provider, to take a new approach to refueling Omaha's cybersecurity talent pipeline. Solutionary has announced a partnership with the SANS Institute, the world's largest information security training and certification organization. Solutionary will sponsor the SANS VetSuccess Immersion Academy - a six-week hands-on immersion training program for veterans living in Omaha and the metro areas with an interest and aptitude in cybersecurity.

SANS has trained more than 165,000 information security professionals around the globe. VetSuccess graduates are offered employment opportunities at Solutionary, an industry leader in delivering managed security services, global threat intelligence and security consulting. The program is sponsored by Solutionary and is free to qualified candidates. Tuition is valued at up to $30,000 depending on the curriculum selected.

"The number and complexity of cyber threats continue to rise at a time when the cybersecurity industry is challenged to keep pace in the face of a severe talent shortage," explained Arlin Halstead, Director of Human Resources, Solutionary. "Transitioning service members offer a unique set of skills making them well suited for cybersecurity jobs. Their training, discipline and integrity are exactly what is required to succeed in cybersecurity. Our ability to partner with the SANS Institute to offer our transitioning military best-in-class cybersecurity training makes great sense from both socially responsible and business perspectives. It is a win-win situation."

"Seeking employment is among the greatest challenges our military veterans face when returning home," noted Jim Michaud, Director, Cyber Talent Solutions, SANS Institute. "The ability to translate their military skills to a civilian environment is a barrier many find difficult to break through. VetSuccess is a simple, direct path to rewarding careers in cybersecurity. We seek to honor our veterans' service with a program to help them build critical skills, find great jobs, and build rewarding careers."

Interested veterans must show aptitude and skills using the SANS CyberTalent Enhanced Assessment and participate in interviews with executives from SANS and program sponsor Solutionary. Accepted participants will receive industry leading curriculum and hands-on learning taught by expert SANS faculty. Graduates earn associated GIAC certifications - recognized and accepted by employers around the world. Participants agree to accept an offer of employment at Solutionary for a minimum of two years.
