SANS Hosts Infosecurity Europe's First Ever Capture The Flag Competition, 4-6 June 2019

Industry professionals challenged to test their skills in teams or individually

SANS Institute, the global leader in cyber security training and certifications, is running a full-blown Capture the Flag competition throughout the three days – 4th, 5th and 6th June – of Infosecurity Europe. It will be the first time such a competition has taken place at the show.

Located in the Geek Street area of the popular trade show, the CTF has been designed to challenge the wits and skills of all industry professionals at the show, and will cover a wide range of cyber security topics to ensure there’s plenty of fun for blue, red and purple team players.

There are two ways to play, either as an individual or by teaming up with colleagues, friends or strangers to have a go as a team. Participants can simply come along on the day but ideally are requested to sign up in advance to help with planning and ensure everyone gets a chance to play. Participants need to bring their own laptop in order to play.

You’ll also find Russ Taylor at Infosec this year, part of the team that has developed Cyber Discovery for the UK Government. Russ is taking part in ‘A day in the life of’ panel discussion at 10.45 am on the 6th June. Cyber Discovery is an extracurricular learning programme for students aged 14-18 across the UK. Its goal is to ensure that many more people enter the cyber security profession in the coming years.

In addition, SANS is running a free skills roadshow at the De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms, London, at 6.30pm on 4 June. Part of the SANS Level Up campaign, the session offers attendees a taste of a SANS event, and the chance to hear SANS Fellow Stephen Sims discuss how to make it in cybersecurity and what he thinks makes a great Pentester. Interested parties should register here.

About SANS Institute

The SANS Institute was established in 1989 as a cooperative research and education organization. SANS is the most trusted and, by far, the largest provider of cyber security training and certification to professionals at governments and commercial institutions world-wide. Renowned SANS instructors teach over 60 different courses at more than 200 live cyber security training events as well as online. GIAC, an affiliate of the SANS Institute, validates a practitioner's qualifications via over 35 hands-on, technical certifications in cyber security. The SANS Technology Institute, a regionally accredited independent subsidiary, offers master's degrees in cyber security. SANS offers a myriad of free resources to the InfoSec community including consensus projects, research reports, and newsletters; it also operates the Internet's early warning system—the Internet Storm Center. At the heart of SANS are the many security practitioners, representing varied global organizations from corporations to universities, working together to help the entire information security community.
