SANS Institute, the global leader in information security training, today announced the agenda of its final 2016 security training event, SANS Cyber Defense Initiative 2016, taking place December 10 - 17 in Washington, D.C. This unique event features more than 35 hands-on immersion style training courses covering today's most needed cybersecurity skillsets including cyber defense, digital forensics and incident response (DFIR), penetration testing, IT audit, application security, industrial control systems, and security management.

Included among the 15 bonus evening discussions is a talk by cybersecurity expert and SANS instructor, Keith Palmgren, on How to Build a Cybersecurity Platform the Easy Way. According to Palmgren, "Building a cybersecurity program is easy. Building a cybersecurity program that is effective is very difficult. Investing time and money in the right place at the right time is the difference between success and being the next cyber breach headline. Join me at SANS Cyber Defense Initiative where I will discuss cybersecurity's five historic and current pitfalls that are preventing organizations from building an effective IT Security platform."

Additional bonus evening discussions will cover a broad range of timely topics including Current and Future Trends in Digital Investigative Analysis, Security Awareness: Understanding and Managing Your Top Seven Human Risks, CISSP - How to Get the Certification that Matters the Most, and more. SANS Cyber Defense Initiative will also feature hands-on interactive challenges that attendees can participate in as an individual or part of a team. The Core NetWars Experience is free for all students attending a four- to six-day course. SANS will also host a DFIR NetWars Tournament (complimentary with any 4-6 day course) and the fifth annual NetWars Tournament of Champions.
